Graduation Day !
During my schooling , I was always eager to climb up the stairs and grow fast so that I could learn more , become smart enough to start wooing girls ( which i did try actually ) ! So i just wanted to continue with my studies to fulfill my ambitions , goals and ofcourse " my expectations " ! Even the college days were cool , but during the last 4 - 5 months of my course , I felt why studies ? why exams ? Yes , you guessed it right ! Preperation for all sort of exams being conducted by the academic institutions ! And then the real test and real exams . Competitive Exams like IIT JEE , AIEEE , PMTs / PETs , NDA , DA-IICT , JIIT etc etc .... ( It's a never ending list ! ) And on top of that our own board exams ! At that point of time , my reaction to studies was ..... arghhh !
Finally , I joined IIIT K for my engineering days ! The most memorable days for many engineers ! And as Bryan Adams rightly said " Those were the best days of my life !!!! " .
When I was in my 3rd year , I had decided to go for higher studies ! Got few offers from leading IT companies but since I had already made up my mind to go for higher studies , I rejected the offer(s) and started preparing for another set of exams . On the last day of our college , my friends were happy that finally they had achieved what they wanted to and soon they will be earning their own bread and could enjoy life as they wanted ! On the other hand I was happy and annoyed as well . Happy coz , now I was Er Rakesh ( Engineer Rakesh ) and annoyed coz parting from friends and the end of most memorable days !
And as I planned and thought , I continued with my studies and pursued my Post Graduation ( M.Tech ) from IIIT B . During the initial days , I thought .... should have accepted the offer so that I could party and step into the corporate world . But after few months , my friends began to complain ! They said : Yaar ! Its damn boring ..... Student life is best ! And then I realized that I had taken the right decision and was enjoying my life ! Never ever thought that the course would end up so soon and the " D - day " would come so soon ! Our " D - day " i.e, Graduation day ( July 13 , 2008 ) is a bit more special ! The IIITBians have the pleasure of receiving their degree from Chairman of IIITB Board and Chief Mentor of Infosys - Shri NR Narayana Murthy .
As soon as my name was called upon , a chill went down to my spine and when I shook hands with the honourable chief guest , I was almost on cloud 9 . After the degrees were distributed , we had a hat toss celebration . We all congratulated each other , jumped , screamed , clicked photographs and later searched for our Grad caps :) . Actually the caution was , If you lose your cap you lose part of your caution money :D
We all realized , the day and the course was finally over ! I was really sad that we had to depart and say good bye to our Alma Mater ! I was feeling the pain of leaving my good friends. But then I really enjoyed my days @ IIIT B. Did almost what I wanted to ! I still cherish those moments !
I have got an offer from ABB and my joining date was 14th July 2008 . I had vacated my hostel room and now I have shifted to Airport Road with my good friends .
All set to start a new innings at ABB !
PS : Post on my new innings at ABB coming up soon .... so stay glued !
