Crazy Indians !

Song for the mood : Crazy Kia Re ! :P

I have seen people going mad after their superstars . Be it Brad Pitt , Angelina Jolie from Hollywood or very own Shahrukh Khan , Hrithik Roshan or Aishwarya from Bollywood or Sachin Tendulkar , David Beckham , Roger Federer , Michael Schumacher or Steffi Graff from the world of sports .

I don't know to what extent people in abroad are crazy about their stars , but people in India actually worship them . Yes , its true .

Some examples are :

  • When India entered the 2003 Cricket World Cup Final and 2007 Cricket World Twenty-20 , people actually went to temple and offered prayers ( so that their favorite player plays a pivotal role in winning the match ) . I saw it happening for Sourav Ganguly during the 2003 World Cup . I was in Kolkata at that time . People flocked to Kali Mata Temple for offering prayers .
  • Even there is a small slogan on the banner which you can find whenever India is on the cricket field : If Cricket is the religion , Sachin is the God !
  • In Southern India , whenever a movie starring Chiranjeevi or Rajnikanth is being released, fans from various parts of the city and associations perform all kind of pujas , have a huge cut - outs and hoardings all over the city . You must see the decoration in the theater premises and soon you will realize , how much the fans adore their star !
I happened to see one such " unusual " incident . One of my friend Durga Prasad invited all of us to Chittoor , on the eve of his Sister's marriage . We went to Chittoor and attended the marriage . Since we had MFC deadline on 30th August , we all decided to return back to Bangalore the very same day . Also , the very next day happened to be Sashank's birthday and we all wanted to celebrate his birthday in the usual IIIT B way !

According to our initial plan we were supposed to make a move after having our lunch . As soon as the marriage got over ( around 9.15 am ) , all got a thought to watch a movie . All voted for Yamadonga ( Telugu Movie , starring Jr NTR , Mohan Babu and Priyamani ) . We quickly inquired about the theater which was screening this particular movie and the timing of the show . On inquiring we came to know that the theater was around 10 minutes from the marriage hall and the first show was at 10 AM . Guess what , we were at the theater at 9.40 AM . We took the tickets and were having small snacks at the shop outside the theater .

To my wonder , I observed something unusual . I think you too must be itching to see what I saw . Here are some of the snaps :

Astonished ! Surprised ??? Yes , I was in a state of shock after seeing the kind of cut - outs and posters . Yes , I have seen the celebrations at theater's during film's 1st day release , seen puja's being offered , garlands on the cut - outs , but , never seen people endorsing their name , photo and college on posters . And a premier college like VIT ( Yes , you guessed it right ! Its Vellore Institute of Technology ) being written all over the banners . I had seen such posters ( name and with their photographs ) representing any educational Coaching institutions or during elections but never during a film release . All these people were the members of Jr NTR's fan association .

It was good to see that people have enough faith in the actor's credibility . But when the movie and their superstar doesn't fare well or doesn't match to their expectations , same people burn their effigies and bring them down , bringing much shame to the country and as well as to their stars . Everyone out here is a ' human - being ' . So , stars do commit mistakes coz they are humans as well . Instead of burning their effigies and bringing them down we need to back them up so that they can repose the faith of their followers and bring fame to their country and make their fans feel happy . So , I request everyone to be patient and support their superstars whenever they are having a torrid time and are going through a lean phase .

And then , you will have every reason to shout ' Chak De India ' !
