Week in Review : ( In detail :P - For Sagar !! )
On 29th February 2008 , Intel celebrated its family day inviting all its employees and their family members to the Verve 2008 . Thanks to all the Intel Interns ( Mainly Ravi and Sashank ) who grabbed extra tickets for all of us , so that we could also sneak in to the party . The theme for this event was from the famous movie " Pirates of the Carribean " . At the entrance , we were greeted by people posing as pirates . We got an opportunity wherein we can dress ourselves as pirates . All the required material and apparel was kept there and we could grab anything , whatever we want . We wore few of them and headed straight towards the Chat counters since we were terribly hungry ( Thanks to the transporters / Bus driver who took us for a ride in Bangalore for around 2 and half hours . The event started at 6 PM and we reached at the venue at 7.30 PM ) . After having some quick snacks , we entered the Main Hall where all the shows and events were being organized . The star for the night was Vasundhara Das who tried to sway her fans with popular numbers but failed to do so , coz she has lost her charm both in her appearance and voice . After having beverages and Dinner , we clicked few snaps and headed straight to our college .

On 1st March 2008 , Spandan Cricket Tournament resumed . It was time for the teams to battle among themselves in the Super League Clash . The first match was played between Rakesh's XI and Prabodh's XI . I won the toss and elected to bat first . And the decision almost backfired . We were 3 down with the score reading 18 at the end of 3 overs . Again Jadoo ( Santosh VKRN ) was playing the role of saviour for our team . He smashed his career best innings at IIITB . He scored exactly 50 runs before getting out off the last ball of the innings . By the time he got out , he made sure that our team was in safe position . We ended up scoring 103 Runs in our stipulated 10 overs . It was a score which we could defend easily , since bowling was our strength . But with the absence of Anna ( Santosh S ) , we had to fill in the fourth bowler quota . Sagar , who replaced Anna in the team was bowling superbly during the warm up and we knew we had a bowler who could fill in the boots of Anna . Before the 2nd innings began , I had a small chat with Chandru . I told him that , one of us ( Chandru and me ) should go for the kill even if he goes for runs and one should contain the batsman . Chandru immediately replied , you go for it ... today I will contain them . The confidence in Chandru's face made me bit more confident of winning this game . As always Chandru opened the bowling for our team and I partnered him . The first ball I bowled , I got a wicket . Ravi was the one who was facing me . He tried to slog me when I pitched the ball short of the length to the off side and he skied it . The catch was comfortably taken and I got the first breakthrough for my team . I conceeded 2 runs in my opening over . Suddenly , I noticed that before every bowl bowled by me , Sagar was the one who used to cheer me up and back me up by saying few encouraging words which boosted me a world of good and he was the last person who used to pass on the ball to me . I am a bit superstitious about all these things and from the next delivery onwards , I made sure that I would collect the ball from Sagar coz he was my lucky Mascot for the day . Thanks a lot Sagar !
The next over I bowled , I got 3 more wickets . First one to go was DK Murthy , who edged an away going delivery straight to Gurudatt who latched onto it beautifully . Actually , in the previous over he was undone by a ball bowled by me which kicked off from a length and hit his eye . I straightaway apologised for that . In came , Reddy who was known for his big hitting . Straightaway I teased him into a booming drive which he nicked and was snapped up by Gurudatt beautifully . You should have a look at the snap which was taken by Ravikanth and you would surely give a thumbs up to that piece of catch . In came Prabodh , my opposite number ... First to survive the hat trick ball and then to steady the ship . I bowled a full length off cutter which came back into Prabodh , which he safely defended . The next ball , he tried to drive and missed it . Somewhere back in my mind , I wanted to bowl a good full toss . A foolish thought that he may just scoop the ball to one of the fielders who were patrolling the boundary . I knew if he would time the ball , it will easily clear the fence . But I wanted to take that chance and I bowled a full toss . And much to my delight he scooped it to Karthik who pouched the catch safely . Woww !! Three wickets and a maiden . I thought , now we can surely win this match . But at one end , there was Chandu who had blown all the earlier oppositions with his lack lusting hitting . And I desperately wanted that wicket . In the meantime , Jadoo got one wicket when vamsi went for an aerial shot and me and karthik both went for the catch and almost spilled it due to miscommunication . I came back into the attack for my final burst and I almost got the wicket of Chandu when he hit the ball high but alas none of the three fielders who were near the ball went for it and it fell on no man's land . In the next over , Santosh cleaned him up and thus we won our first match .
The next match was between Prabodh's XI and Nitin's XI ( Alumni ) . This was the decider for Prabodh's team . It was a do or die match for them . After having a bit heavy lunch and after losing the toss , they were able to restrict their oppostion to 76 runs . This was a chaseable target . There was a bit indecision in Prabodh's mind so as to who should open the innings . With suggestions pouring from all the sides , he decided to stick with the ones who opened for them regularly .That decision again backfired and without giving a stand to their mainstay , all of them went for their shots and the team collapsed to 27 All out in 6 overs . With this loss , Prabodh's XI were knocked off from the super league and the teams for the final was decided . It was between Rakesh's XI and Nitin's XI . The match is scheduled to held on 9th March 08 .

On 2nd March , we got up early in the morning and were glued to the television till evening 4 Pm because it was time for both India Seniors and India under - 19 to take on Australia and South Africa in the finals of CB Series and World Championship respectively . With some aggressive batting performance by Maestro Sachin Tendulkar and with Rain God helping Under 19's with a small shower and with a wonderul performance by new ball bowler Ajitesh Arghal , India won both their matches .The icing on the cake was when Karthik and Sudheer invited all of us for a treat @ Hyderebad House at Koramangala . And as usual , we headed towards Corner House for a refreshing dessert .
On 4th March , Business Objects invited all of its employees for a Product Kick Off @ The Eagleton Resort which is a 30 km drive away from Bangalore city . It is mainly a golf village with an 18-hole, 72 par, 168-acre championship course designed by internationally reputed golf architects, Pacific Coast Design Pvt. Ltd., Australia. This village has been designed to cater to the growing number of golf enthusiasts - Indian and foreigners who are seeking fresh challenges and new destinations. This professional golf academy has a 25 floodlight practice drive-in range and also sophisticated ball-picking and dispensing machines. Apart from the golf course the village also has other facilities of a well-maintained resort like a swimming pool, playing grounds, restaurants and comfortable rooms for staying. This place isn't for fun lovers as it has nothing to offer apart from calm weather and away from city noise and pollution . From 9 AM - 4 PM we were engaged in some or the other talks by the Board members as to what the coming year was offering and expecting from / to its employees . Then there were some cultural events and later in the evening a band called Infra Red pleased the audience with their hip shaking numbers . None the less the food served that day was much much better to our usual food @ College and Office Canteen .

Due to busy schedule and a sudden change in weather , I was badly hit . I was running with high fever and terrible cold which made me skip office on Wednesday ( First official bunk !! ) and I did informed my Team Leader that it won't be possible for me to attend office . I am bit ok now and gearing up for few events which are lined up for this weekend . Our own baabai alias Vicky dada is all set to come from aamchi Mumbai on friday evening and we are planning to have some gala time this weekend Also we want to register a victory in Spandan Finals Cricket Tournament to wear the crown of UNBEATABLES !!

About cricket. yea i should have hit that ball straight :) ..Hope we will meet again next year in the Spandan..
